The cathedral,built by Bishop Ursusin the earliest years ofthe fifth century, imme-diately after the seat ofgovernment had beenfixed at Ravenna, theoldest and probably thefinest of the noble groupof Christian basilicas,has disappeared beneaththe tasteless rebuildingof the seventeenth cen-tury, its round bell-toweralone remaining.
