Sounds of the Universe je dvanásty štúdiový album Depeche Mode. Bol vydaný Mute Records 20. apríla 2009. Producentom bol ako v prípade albumu Playing the Angel Ben Hillier.

Pri nahrávaní bol, rovnako ako v prípade predchádzajúceho albumu, kladený dôraz na analógové syntetizátory, čo Dave Gahan komentoval: „Toto je nový Martinov fetiš, pretože všetky tieto vecičky nakúpil na eBay. Už určite kúpil dobrú polovicu všetkých dostupných analógových prístrojov.“
