Melodic metalcore je žáner, ktorý v sebe spája vlastnosti metalcore a melodického death metalu, pričom kombinuje oba ich zvuky.[1] Obsahuje gitarové riffy, blast beaty, metalcorové breakdowny a použité vokály môžu byť od growlingu cez screaming až po čistý spev.
Charakteristika
Melodic metalcorové hudobné skupiny majú vplyvy z gitarových riffov a textové štýly zo švédskeho melodického death metalu, a to predovšetkým od skupín At the Gates,[2] Arch Enemy, In Flames a Soilwork.[3] Skupiny majú tendenciu širokého používania melódií. Tiež môžu používať harmonické gitarové riffy, tremolo picking, dvojbasové bubny a metalcorové breakdowny.[4][5][6] Niektoré skupiny začleňujú aj gitarové sóla.[7] Niekoľko z týchto skupín, ako Shadows Fall, uznávajú glam metal z 80. rokov.[8]
